great deal for mtl and a good sign for things to come

Bergevin never knew how to manage the cap

they will be able to get the pieces that they need to surround Suzuki and Caufield

that was the plan, try to keep everybody as the pay level of Suzuki. That's also the deal Dubois will get

he would not get more than that from the HABS

should it be even less?

maybe

If suzuki is your guy, the centre playing behind him should not get as much

they cant pay all of their forwards 8 millions eiher

maybe in the 6-7 millions area

its not about what he can get on the market as much as what mtl is ready or should be ready to pay him. Thats how you build your team.

Your top stars should get the top $$. If they take less than what they could get on the open market, everybody needs to join. Crosby and Malkin set the tone. Boston did the same.

Some of your top 6 forwards need to make less money. Otherwise Slaf will ask for the same thing when his time is up and you may end up with the same problems that the Leafs have, just that you screwed yourself in a different way
